2021.12.09 00:51 Non_burner_account Scholarly consensus on seemingly misogynistic Old Testament passages

It's easy to throw around any number of Old Testament passages or Levitical laws that will shock and disgust modern ears. If you post questions about them on AskChristianity or to an evangelical theologian, there's always some sort of explanation that might be reasonable, or might be dubious. Mostly they follow the pattern of "these books were written a long time ago in a context hard to understand, so don't assume they reflect misogynistic attitudes."
Consider the following passages as examples:

As someone fairly familiar with the Bible, but not an academic scholar by any means, I read these passages and conclude the following about the author:
As responses to these observations from a straightforward reading, Christian apologists will say things like, "Some of these laws actually had the effect of protecting vulnerable women," and "these traditions were progressive for their time and place." Numbers 5 is often pointed to as a (possible? probable?) mistranslation that implies a miscarriage, when it really means infertility.
I wonder how much validity these responses hold -- of course the ancient culture must contain some context that makes a straightforward reading deceptive, but perhaps modern apologists are guilty of sanitizing what they'd like to read as an inerrant, divine document. I also imagine that up until the last 100-200 years, theologians haven't needed to be on the defensive about what the Bible says about women's roles, slavery, and other "distasteful" topics.
So: what would a scholar say about how "progressive" some of these Old Testament passages were for the time, and what would they say about the notion that the passages' intents don't actually conflict with to modern ideals of dignity for women (at least when it comes to sexual ethics and marriage)? Is there evidence that laws like these were used, perhaps counter-intuitively, to shield vulnerable women from abusive husbands?

2021.12.09 00:51 Front-Flaky What's your opinion about DEXs?

We all know that centralized exchanges like top ones have a big part of crypto and users but this does not hinder the fact that decentralized exchanges are better and growing with unmatched speeds yet. This should be supported because decentralized exchanges like MilkyWayEx who strive to exceed the user experience everyday. Ultimately decentralization is a huge part of why crypto is appreciated. There is hardly anything to keep ourselves away from decentralized exchanges.

2021.12.09 00:51 DampestFire For my school project I need to control and read from multiple devices using some form of microcontroller and was thinking about using an arduino uno. My concern is that it might be too much to ask of an uno to do.

For my project I need to control a stepper motor driver over an rj45 connector (200 steps, max of 30 rpm), read from 2 strain gauges, control 5 solenoids via 5v relays and simulate UART over USB to "talk" to a software called LabVIEW to report gauge values. Any insight into the limits of an arduino uno's capability due to hardware constraints would be greatly appreciated.
